Week 313: Tight Chest

A week of large vulnerabilities, coordinating incidents, masses of D&D time, squash club quizzes, hermitting in Brighton, baby showers, house guests, and scary operations.

  • This week was dominated by vulnerabilities in PHP and Node.js. I led some work on the Node.js one and felt good about it – I do a good job with comms and organising under pressure, if I say so myself.

  • A lot of D&D this week. Critical Role Season 4 continues to be amazing; I got to play in Luke’s weekly game again, great fun; and I’ve been planning and worldbuilding for my own campaign like a man possessed. My player characters are about to make a few interesting decisions and I’ve had to plan for each possible outcome, a lot of work but everything fleshes out the world even if it doesn’t get directly used yet. I’m having so much fun 🙂

  • On Friday we attended the annual Squash Quiz which was great fun again. Miles away though, it was a late night.

  • On Saturday I popped down to Brighton to visit my sister. I had grand aims of messaging some of my other Brighton friends but it was so miserable that we just stayed at Rebecca’s and chatted out of the rain. Sorry Brighton friends.

  • Sunday was Artem & Mila’s baby shower, a lovely time being plied with food and having nappy changing competitions on teddy bears.

  • Finally, mum and my little brother are arriving imminently. He has an operation nearby tomorrow, big and scary, so they’re staying over. Trying not to panic. I’m not a particularly anxious person but I described a pretty nasty tightness in my chest and shallow breathing to Charlotte the other day, apparently that’s it. How do you regular sufferers cope? 😬

  • We’ll be alright.
