A week of in-person games, multiple drinks, Union socials, birthday drinks, sick cats, wet poops, leasing cars, resolving incidents, and causing incidents.

  • We started the week with a fun in-person boardgames, Scott was down in London for a couple of days and it’s always great to see him. Monday drinks started a bit of a heavy week and I’m gonna be sensible for the rest of October.

  • Speaking of drinks, we had our second Unite social on Thursday. There were some leaving drinks in the same pub and the groups merged a bit, it was nice and I had chats with some of our Bulgarian colleagues. Unlikely we recruited anyone tbh, numbers are at an all time high but there’s some churn as members leave the company and new ones join.

  • Saturday was great, it was Luke’s birthday drinks. Keran’s over from Canada and it was lovely to see her!

  • Douglas Fir’s been a little sick this week with the shits, poor lad. I trod in a poo with my bare foot. We took him to the vet on Sunday, it’s the first time ever that his brother Tom Barnaby was left alone, he did not like it one bit.

  • I did a big thing and have ordered a car via Octopus EVs (salary sacrifice) 😅 Alison is intending on selling the car we share at some point and I decided I’d really like not to be driving a petrol car any more. I’m getting a Leapmotor B10 and I’m excited about it.

  • I had a nice little knock over the weekend. Last week I helped resolved an incident by adding a new rate limit. On Sunday I got a call from Operations (I’m on our out of hours rota) asking for help with an issue, turns out my rate limit had started rate limiting some of our internal systems 😬 it would have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for a backup system that my team introduced a few years ago. Anyway sorting all of this will be a fun Monday task.
