Week 303: Eclipse

A week of family visits, great barbecues, walks in the sun, pedal boats, pub quizzes, second places, lovely eclipses, and a reading binge.

  • We spent a lot of the week with Charlotte’s family in Matlock, starting with a BBQ after they arrived (and just before the nationwide alert 😬) we had a lovely time and I think they enjoyed staying with us. We had booked the week off and it was a great idea, not trying to squeeze any work in.

  • We walked over to Matlock Bath one of the days, hired pedal-boats on the river, and ate chips. The heat was a bit much really but the walk was nice anyway.

  • On Tuesday we came second in the local pub quiz again with the help of Charlotte’s brother and his girlfriend. It’s a fun quiz and we’ll probs go every time we’re up.

  • Me lounging on a picnic blanket in a field, wearing eclipse glasses

There was an eclipse! Luckily we had glasses before things got wild – queues down the road in Whitechapel. Charlotte and I trudged up to Peak Tor with a picnic blanket and some sandwiches and alternated between watching the eclipse and reading our books. What a nice evening.

  • I finished the the second Mistborn novel and am half way through the third. It’s very easy reading and I’m enjoying them a lot! I’ll probs have a break from Sanderson next. Any recommendations?
