Week 290: Catfishing
There’s some really weird stuff going on at work, pals. The kind of thing that makes you question whether you’re going quite mad. That’s probs all I can say publicly, but everyone else I’ve spoken to about it agrees that nothing makes sense any more. Fun!
In unrelated news I asked a question on behalf of our union members in a town hall, it went down well I think. Management don’t hate me but also I got many Slack messages from people I’ve never met, each along the lines of “Thank you for asking that” and “Wait, there’s a union? How do I join?”
In related news, we have some draft Unite flyers: it’d be great to show people something written instead of having to remember everything all at once. Otherwise I might forget to say things like “membership doubled in the last year”.
Tim left the FT to retire, he’s been on my team for quite a while now and I appreciate his attitude of “I can afford to retire but I enjoy work, and I can just leave when I stop enjoying it”. I can probably file this under “Unrealistic Life Goals” but let me dream for a minute.
Alison bought us an air fryer for the new house which is very kind. We can’t fit an air fryer in the London flat, but we squeezed it into our normal chopping space to give it a go. I’m not a convert yet but maybe I will be when I work out what I’m gonna do with the three minutes it saved me on cooking some chicken kyivs.
At the weekend we went and did an escape room in an abandoned tube station with Tammy and Marcus, it was fun, we kind of sucked at it which isn’t like us tbh. We went for a roast and finally spent the £75 drink voucher we won over a year ago.
I bought a hot glue gun, it’s fun.
Kara and Ivo introduced me to Catfishing which is a new obsession, it’s fun! Some days I’m horrifically bad and some days I feel like a little smartypants.
