Week 287: Spice Rack

A week of organising the house, relocating our spices, getting distracted, purging litter trays, lots of drinks, sunny balconies, and some of the absolute best noodles.

  • A wooden spice rack full of jars and expertly hung on the wall

I bought a spice rack, something I’ve been meaning to for a long time. Previously, all our herbs and spices lived in a cupboard and locating the one you needed was a nightmare jenga-like experience except all the blocks are made of glass and not designed to stack.

I’m so delighted with it. In the near future I’m gonna decant everthing into little neat identical jars with custom labels, it’ll be adorable.

  • The spice rack created a large amount of cupboard space and I got sidetracked cleaning out and reorganising it. It’s now a lot easier to get to everything. During the cupboard sorting I found a few things that belong in our medicine drawer then got side-tracked reorganising that mess.

In the medicine drawer I found a few hand sanitizers which don’t really fit there so I had to find a new place for them, for now it’s the junk drawer.

In the junk drawer I found the carpet brush we bought a while ago to remove pet hair, so I got side-tracked cleaning all the rugs and removing a disgusting amount of trodden in cat hair.

This continued. Anyway the house feels nice.

  • During my purge I got rid of a the second litter tray that the cats don’t use. It went to a guy in the block who’s fostering cats so that felt nice 👍 it also makes our living room feel huge.

  • On Friday we had our first balcony day of the year at Alison’s around the corner. Her balcony is perfectly sheltered from the wind and gets direct sunlight so it was like being on holiday.

  • On Saturday we met up with Ari who was down to support some friends in the marathon, we had a lovely time doing a bit of bar hopping and enjoying the sun. OMG we went to Xi’an BiangBiang noodles in Aldgate for the first time since my exclusion diet. Words cannot express how much this filled me with joy, I’m so happy. Go there.
