  • The highlight of the work week was playing D&D on Wednesday. It was session five of my original two-part adventure, I woefully underestimated how long it’d take but it was a lot of fun! There was a very long battle in which several characters nearly died, but they were successful and completed the first little adventure. I think everyone wants to carry on playing which is great, means I need to do some more planning!

  • I got some quite intense and sad family news this week that I’m not quite ready to talk about properly yet but it’s weighing on me a bit.

  • We took Friday and Monday off to have a long weekend in Matlock with J&C. I drove up on Thursday evening and C showed me how to use the cruise control on Alison’s car. Absolute game changer for motorways.

  • On Friday, Charlotte and I drove to Hull to help her mum do some house clearance – her granny moved into a flat a while ago and her house has finally sold. What’s nice about this is that Charlotte can take all the leftover furniture, some of it is lovely and will work well in the house.

  • A view over Matlock Green from up on the hill, the sun's shining and everything is green

On Saturday we wandered around Matlock between tea rooms and bars, and had a pretty relaxed day. We also had a final viewing on Charlotte’s house and chatted to the seller; we’re all in agreement that solicitors and estate agents are the ones holding everything up. On Sunday we walked to Matlock Bath which was less relaxed (there was a large loud motorcycle meet), but the countryside between the towns is beautiful.

  • On Monday we finally got around to using our free Alton Towers tickets. It was dead quiet with most ride queues being ~5 minutes. Great fun!
