Week 283: Sheffield

A week of belated birthday trips, cheap first class, large tasting menus, meeting babies, walking around a cemetary, several good pubs, a spice bag, and some great cocktails.

  • Over the weekend we went to Sheffield as a belated birthday trip, because I couldn’t eat or drink anything on my actual birthday.

  • It was lovely. We treated ourselves to first class trains because it only cost £10 more per ticket, then ate a 10 course tasting menu which was pretty great.

  • On Saturday morning we popped to meet Lee and family for coffee and it was so lovely to see them. Also quite impromptu which I don’t have enough of – more of this please.

  • A path winding between lots of monuments and gravestones

We did a lot of walking around, went to look at some catacombs and a snuff mill, lots of steps.

  • On Saturday evening we met up with Joe and Niamh who showed us the good pubs. We had a spice bag and a good number of pints.

After they left we went to Public and had amazing cocktails and a pickleback. A nice weekend overall.
