Week 278: McMuffin

A week of several socials, being sensible, D&D session three of two, blank space, time alone, Sausage & Egg McMuffins, and some VPS noodling.

  • Adam was in London this week so I saw him a few times. I stuck to shandies and have been very sensible to try and bring my gut back to the good levels it was at pre-holiday. As a result, I haven’t reintroduced any new food for a week, apologies to those who are desperate for news on the condition of my bowels.

  • Dungeons and Dragons remains one of the best hobbies that exists. I ran session three of my two-part adventure (oops) on Wednesday and it went well I think! I killed off the NPC my players had spent the most time with and then killed another one accidentally 😬 it’s all coming back to me though, I let myself improvise a little more now I’m more comfortable running sessions again.

  • We went to a space thing at St Martin-in-the-Fields with Luke and it was bang average. We went for vietnamese food afterwards and I was very pleased to be able to eat pho.

  • A not-particularly-aesthetic attempt at copying a Sausage & Egg McMuffin

Charlotte was in Birmingham on Saturday and I decided to spend some of my day trying to recreate a Sausage & Egg McMuffin. It went astoundingly well first time, I surprised myself, sage and thyme is what makes it taste right and it was so close but also maybe better because the egg was pretty good.

The only thing to improve would be the hash browns, I didn’t squeeze enough liquid out so they were a tad soft in the middle. I have since bought some cheesecloth so I can do it properly next time.

  • I spent a lot of the rest of the weekend noodling about with Easypanel on my VPS (thanks Kara, it’s so great) and migrating some projects there. I also did some modernising of some of my open source libraries in preparation for dropping Node.js 20 support in April.
