  • Oops I meant to write this weeknote on Monday but I was too busy doing D&D prep. Then I was supposed to write it earlier this evening but I was too busy learning Rust. Staying busy. It’s just turned Wednesday.

  • D&D is a nice distraction from everything, a chance to step out of a world of AI hype and just be creative for the fun of it.

  • This week I learned that a 13 year old open source project will be made private so that the project can try and deliver things quicker and better with AI. The future!

  • So that’s been the first half of this week which I’m not even here to write about. Let’s talk about gut health and Germany.

  • Eating almost solely meat, potatoes, and bread for a week is not great for you. My normal gut issues reversed during my time in Germany and I craved vegetables. This isn’t me throwing shade at German cuisine but more on my poor planning – I introduced mostly meat and carbs before going there.

  • It was a fun but tiring week. Carnival in Bonn and Cologne is pretty wild but in a fun happy way rather than the intense way I was expecting. We dressed as Bunte Eier on Thursday. On Saturday, I dressed in an inflatable frog costume, an homage to the Portland Frogs.

  • The frog was a bit of a nightmare to get around in, it fogged up a lot, but I made a lot of friends (frogs and humans). I made fewer friends by sicking up, which I blame on a slightly-too-enthusiastic reintroduction of alcohol to my body.
